Math- This week we will finish up our chapter on money with an at-home assessment.  The test and answer sheet will be sent home Monday.  Please have students complete the test on their own, then grade it and make corrections.  The tests are not timed.

Spelling-Please either make a copy or write directly on the third quarter phonogram assessment by Monday, March 7.  We'll complete the sounds assessment together at school.

Reading-This week we'll take a small break from OPG as the students start Stuart Little.  Students have questions (2-3 per chapter) to answer.  One sentence should be sufficient to answer the questions, but please check carefully for spelling, grammar, and handwriting errors.  They can remain in the binders-they'll be collected in two chunks for grading.

History- The chapter "The Slave Trade" is not assigned, but co-teachers might want to skim it and summarize some of it to provide some context for students.  Depending on what types of conversations you have had with your student regarding slavery, the information may or may not be appropriate for your student so please feel free to handle it how you are most comfortable.

Saint Francis of Assisi Day- This week we'll be studying Saint Francis.  We have a beautiful book to read on Monday and then we'll finish up the quarter with a special celebration.  The students will recite their poems and we will do a blessing of the animals outside (if the weather is nice!).  Students may bring a stuffed animal from home for our ceremony.  Please make sure it can fit inside student's backpack.  We'll then make hummingbird feeders and finish up with an art narration of one of Giotto di Bondone's paintings of Saint Francis from medieval times.
