You may want to send a light sweater or jacket with your student. A lot of them have been complaining of the temperature in our classroom, but the same unit services several classrooms so I'm limited in how much I can adjust it :)

Math- I've changed the multiplication fact practice to 2's and 5's. Originally I was going to assess these separately, but since we'll be covering them more in depth next chapter, I'll assess them then. Please practice them on a regular basis in place of the math journal, but please continue to send the math journal to school.
Handwriting- When students are doing copy work at home, please have them correct any letters that were formed incorrectly or out of scale. At school I typically underline words or letters I want them to re-copy.
Science- We're doing a lab this week in class that has nothing to do with Botany but will hopefully be really fun :) It does involve gummy worms and I'm guessing the students will want to taste some. If your child can't have gummy worms (or you just don't want them to) please let me know by Wednesday morning. I do have a few small little prizes that aren't food items that I can sub in for them so they get something special or extra too.
