Math-  Math Journals should be brought back and forth to school.  Please use as a warm-up but stop after 10 minutes.  Friday should be used as a catch up day for MJ.  The MJ is not published by Singapore and therefore there may be times it does not completely align.  If there are problems you know your student has not covered, you may skip them.

Spelling-Spelling sheets can be found behind the spelling tab in the campus binder.  Please continue practicing phonograms and sound cards (dictating the sound and having them write them down).

Grammar- Workbook and practice book will be completed at home only.  We will do similar exercises and activities in class.  Please only complete assigned portions of the lesson.  The question and answer flow can be found at the end of the cd you received with your teacher’s manual.

Reading-OPG will be review for the first quarter.  Please use this opportunity to practice fluency, intonation, tone of voice, etc.  All readers will be completed in class during first quarter.  We will be doing a phonemic awareness program in class called “Reading Done Right.”

History-Instructions for History Journals can be found in the front of the journal.  Please encourage students to use correct grammar and spelling.  One way to do this is to have them dictate to you what they want to say and you copy it with correct grammar and spelling, then have them copy it into their journals.  This will stay at home but I will collect once a quarter for a homework grade.

Oral History Narrations - Once a semester each child will present what they learned the last week in History to the class.  I will designate when it is their turn on the blog.  They may have a card with notes on it (no complete sentences), but have them practice it enough that they are not reading from the card. Feel free to make it longer, but think in the range of 3-5 facts.  We will utilize speaking in front of the class in several different subjects.  When it comes time to recite, please have them practice reciting at home for different types of audiences (siblings, stuffed animals, parents).  Work on fluency, not fidgeting and eye contact.
